The CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership is suitable for managers, aspiring managers, supervisors, and professionals who have responsibility for managing people, leading teams, or contributing to organisational performance. It is also appropriate for learners who have completed the CMI Level 5 Award and wish to top up to the Certificate.

This is a Level 5 qualification that develops knowledge and understanding of management and leadership practice, with a focus on organisational context, people management, and team leadership.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to understand key principles of management and leadership within organisations, apply approaches to developing and leading individuals and teams, and contribute to effective people management and organisational success.
Progression
Completion of the Certificate allows learners to top up to the CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership, using accumulated credits. There is no duplication of learning or reassessment.
Awarding Organisation
This qualification is awarded by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
Course Duration and Support
The course duration is flexible, and learners may complete the certificate in 6–9 months.
The qualification has a minimum Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 130 hours, including 44 Guided Learning Hours (GLH).
Learners receive tutor guidance, assessor feedback, and internal quality assurance support in line with CMI requirements.
Delivery Methods
The course is delivered 100% online, allowing learners to study at their own pace.
Assessments
Assessment is conducted against the unit learning outcomes and assessment criteria. A range of assessment methods may be used, including written assignments, reports, and structured assessment activities.
There are no written examinations.
Assessment decisions are made on a Pass/Refer basis.
