CHOOSE YOUR ROUTE

Choose a Qualification That Fits Your Goals

Compare each qualification’s subject, level, entry requirements and assessment method. Knowledge-based awards differ from competence-based diplomas. Assessor, quality assurance, care and Early Years routes may need a workplace, real learners, observations or practical evidence—even when taught through accredited online courses. Check regulated details on the Ofqual Register, or ask HHF Training for course advice.

CHOOSE YOUR LEVEL

From Entry Level to Strategic Leadership

Use the guide below to compare Entry Level to strategic leadership. You may enter at a suitable level when you meet that course’s entry and practical requirements.

👉 A quick guide to qualification levels

Entry Level and Level 1: build foundational English and mathematics skills for everyday tasks, work and further learning. Functional Skills options are available at different stages, so choose the level that matches your current ability.
Level 2: develop practical skills for customer service, retail, taxi, Early Years practice and other vocational settings. Check whether the qualification is knowledge based or requires evidence from a real workplace.
Level 3: explore introductory teaching, assessor practice, adult care, Early Years education, CMI first line management, coaching, project management, and specialist English or maths teaching awards. The assessment method varies across these routes.
Level 4: consider the Certificate in Education and Training, IQA and EQA qualifications, business administration, management and hospitality. Some courses need teaching practice, quality assurance activity or workplace evidence.
Level 5: deepen professional practice through the Diploma in Teaching, CMI management qualifications or leadership in health and social care. Compare the size of an Award, Certificate and Diploma and arrange the placement or workplace access the specific course requires.
Level 7: strategic management qualifications suit senior leadership responsibilities. The CMI Strategic Management and Leadership Practice routes and the separate competence-based NVQ Diploma have different assessment requirements, so check the exact qualification before enrolment.

An Award generally covers a smaller set of outcomes; a Certificate is broader; a Diploma usually involves more extensive learning and assessment. The exact size, units, awarding organisation and evidence requirements vary by qualification. Read the individual course page and arrange any needed workplace, teaching practice or observations before enrolling.

PROGRESSION ROUTES

Progress from Level 5 to Level 7 with Purpose

Progress through accredited online courses when your role, experience and evidence meet the next qualification’s requirements. You need not complete every earlier level. Admission to another course or university programme, and employment, remain subject to the destination’s requirements.

CMI management route: Level 3 first line management, coaching or project management can build a foundation for broader responsibility. The CMI Level 5 Award, Certificate and Diploma serve different depths of management learning. Senior leaders may consider the Level 7 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice. The separate Level 7 NVQ Diploma is competence based and requires appropriate workplace evidence. Choose by role scope and assessment, not the number alone.

Teaching route: Level 3 to the Level 5 Diploma

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training introduces teaching principles. The Level 4 Certificate develops planning, delivery and assessment through teaching practice. For practitioners preparing for a substantial Further Education and Skills teaching role, the 120-credit Level 5 Diploma in Teaching combines online study with a suitable placement, real teaching practice and observation.

Check your teaching setting: You need a suitable placement and opportunities for teaching practice and observation. Ask us whether your subject area and existing setting align with the Diploma requirements.
Plan the next professional step: Later professional formation and career options depend on the relevant external body’s current rules. Compare requirements for your intended destination before you commit.

More professional routes to explore

Progression is personal. A higher level only makes sense when the course matches your role and the evidence you can produce. These routes sit alongside teaching and CMI management, each with its own entry and practical requirements.

Care and Early Years: Compare Level 2 practice with Level 3 adult care or Early Years education, then consider Level 5 care leadership where experience and responsibilities fit. Workplace access is central to competence-based routes.
Assessor to IQA or EQA: Assessors may progress into internal and external quality assurance when they have relevant practice opportunities. Check real assessment and quality assurance evidence requirements.
Functional Skills and specialist teaching: English and maths learners can move through Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2. The Level 3 subject-specialist teaching awards have a different professional purpose and assessment route.
PAYMENT OPTIONS

Plan Your Course Fees with Confidence

See the current fee on each qualification page. If you need a payment plan, ask our team about the options for your chosen course and the practical evidence it requires.

Ask HHF Training about payment options

Flexible payment options for selected courses

Each qualification page shows its current course fee. HHF Training may offer instalment arrangements for selected courses, helping self-funded learners plan around work and family costs. Ask us what is available for the exact Award, Certificate or Diploma you want before enrolling.

Know the total cost: Confirm the total payable, payment dates and any conditions. Availability can differ by qualification, so do not assume the arrangement on one course applies to another.
Plan the practical work: Check teaching practice, workplace assessment, observations or exams alongside the fee. Flexible online learning still includes the evidence required by the qualification.
Get clear advice: Tell HHF Training your current role and intended outcome. We can explain available payment options and help you compare a smaller Award with a broader Diploma.
