The Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (RQF) supports people working in vocational education, workplace training and quality assurance. Workplace assessors, apprenticeship staff, supervisors and occupational specialists who assess learners doing their normal work.

You need access to real learners and a genuine workplace where occupational competence can be assessed. Arrange at least two learners and agree the assessment plan with HHF before enrolment. Practical assessor performance must be observed and supported by authentic assessment records; simulation cannot replace workplace competence evidence.

Entry and Practical Access Requirements

HHF’s existing course information specifies learners aged 19 or over, suitable English reading and writing skills and the subject knowledge needed for their intended role.

You need access to real learners and a genuine workplace where occupational competence can be assessed. Arrange at least two learners and agree the assessment plan with HHF before enrolment. Practical assessor performance must be observed and supported by authentic assessment records; simulation cannot replace workplace competence evidence.

You will need internet access, a suitable device and the identification documents requested for registration. Tell HHF about additional learning needs before starting so support and reasonable adjustments can be considered. Check your eligibility before enrolment.

Assessment and Evidence Requirements

Complete the assessment principles unit and a practical portfolio for workplace assessment. Prepare plans, observe work, examine work products, question learners, make evidence-based decisions and give constructive feedback. Include assessment records, learner feedback, reflective accounts and professional discussion as agreed with your assessor.

Agree a realistic evidence plan with your assessor at induction. Keep your work organised against the unit criteria, retain the relevant records and respond to feedback where further evidence is required.

Protect learner and centre information in accordance with consent and data protection arrangements. Submit evidence through the approved course channels. Successful assessment and quality assurance are required before certification.

Online Learning, Duration and Tutor Support

HHF provides online study resources, assessment guidance and tutor support. The existing course completion period is 60 days from payment.

Plan time for reading, written work, any practical activities and responding to feedback. You may finish earlier when the evidence is complete, but practical access and quality assurance affect the overall timetable.

HHF provides ongoing email support, typically replying within 24 hours, and WhatsApp support during office hours, 9am–6pm Monday–Saturday. Contact the team for access or registration questions; use your tutor for learning and assessment guidance.

Workplace Assessor Course Fees and Enrolment
