Entry Level 1 Functional Skills English is for learners who are starting to build confidence. On this online course, you will practise with forms, notices, short messages, labels, simple instructions and everyday conversations. How Functional Skills English Entry Level 1 Is Assessed
To earn this qualification, complete the required Highfield assessments and meet the standard for each part. Lessons, practice tasks and mock assessments help you prepare. They do not replace the formal assessments.

Two assessed activities: a presentation with questions and answers, and a group discussion. This component is assessed and quality assured by HHF Training and moderated in line with Highfield requirements.
👉 Reading and Writing
Reading and Writing each have a Highfield written assessment.
The course fee includes one scheduled attempt at each required assessment. Extra attempts, missed appointments, late changes, additional components or special arrangements may cost more under HHF Training's published terms. HHF Training will confirm the assessment date and arrangements before booking.

Reasonable Adjustments and Learner Support

Certification and Recognition
After successfully completing every required component of Functional Skills English Entry Level 1 and the applicable quality-assurance process, you will receive the Highfield Functional Skills Qualification in English at Entry Level 1 awarded by Highfield Qualifications.
Entry Level 1 is an Entry Level qualification designed to support confidence and progression. It is not equivalent to Functional Skills Level 1 or Level 2 and should not be advertised as a GCSE equivalent.
