Level 1 Award in e-Responsibility: Course Overview

The Level 1 Award in e-Responsibility provides a structured way to develop and demonstrate useful digital skills. Build safer online habits, recognise cyber-bullying and use social networks responsibly.

You study the units in the selected route below and build evidence of your learning. Activities link the software and concepts to realistic tasks, with guidance on organising work for assessment.

This is a Level 1 qualification awarded by iCQ. The course focuses on using digital tools effectively and understanding the decisions behind your work. Speak with an HHF course adviser if you are unsure which level fits your experience.

Who Is This Course For?

Learners who want to understand online safety, protect themselves and others, and participate responsibly in social networks.

HHF will discuss your existing skills, study needs and access to suitable technology before confirming that the course is appropriate. Choose the level and qualification size that match your goals and the time you can give to learning.

What You Will Learn

Recognise online risks, choose sensible precautions, understand cyber-bullying and explore the responsibilities involved in using social networks.

Learning follows the selected units, with opportunities to practise, review your work and improve it. You will explain relevant choices and show that your work meets the requirements of the task. Your tutor and assessor can guide you in understanding the evidence required.

Qualification Structure and Unit Combination

Complete Principles of Internet Safety (2 credits), plus Cyber-bullying Awareness and Introduction to Social Networks (2 credits each). This three-unit route totals 6 credits at Level 1. The qualification requires the mandatory unit and at least 4 optional credits.

The table shows the units included in HHF’s selected route, rather than every unit available within the qualification. Any change to optional units must be agreed with HHF and checked against the awarding organisation’s rules before registration and assessment.

Entry Requirements

You do not need advanced IT skills to ask about this course. HHF will check that your starting skills and study needs match the selected route.

A previous qualification is not assumed to replace the initial suitability check. Tell HHF about additional learning needs so appropriate support and reasonable adjustments can be considered. Confirm registration eligibility, including age, with HHF before enrolment.

Practical Tasks and Software Access

You need reliable internet access and a suitable computer with the applications required for your selected units. A phone alone will not normally be enough for document, spreadsheet or presentation tasks. Where a unit uses mobile devices or collaboration tools, access to those tools is also required.

Agree suitable applications and practical task contexts with your assessor. You can discuss relevant workplace activities or planned learning tasks that allow you to demonstrate the criteria. Software access or subscription costs should be confirmed before enrolment; do not assume a particular software licence is included.

Keep copies of your practical work and explain what you did. Use test information or anonymise confidential workplace and personal data before submitting evidence.

Assessment and Evidence Requirements

Assessment is based on an evidence portfolio against the unit learning outcomes and assessment criteria. Evidence may include practical files, screenshots, written explanations, questioning or demonstration, as agreed with your assessor. Written answers alone do not replace practical evidence where a unit requires it.

Agree an assessment plan, submit your own work and organise it by unit. Your assessor will review the evidence and provide feedback where more detail or practical work is required. You must meet the relevant criteria to achieve a Pass; submitting a task is not itself a guarantee of achievement.

The qualification is assessed through the required evidence, rather than relying on a single final written exam. Successful assessment and the required quality assurance checks precede certification.

Online Learning and Course Duration

HHF provides online learning resources and assessment guidance so you can plan study around work and other commitments. Work through the units in an agreed order, practise each skill and prepare your portfolio within the course access period.

The qualification guidance lists 60 hours of guided learning. The selected unit route shown here totals 60 unit guided learning hours. These figures describe planned learning, not a promised completion time in weeks. Your timetable depends on prior skills, available study time and progress with assessment.

Agree your access period and completion plan with HHF before enrolling. Read HHF learner FAQs for further information about studying with us.

Tutor Support

Your tutor can help you understand learning activities and prepare for practical tasks. Your assessor explains evidence requirements and identifies any gaps during assessment. Use feedback to improve the work and ask for guidance when you are unsure about the next step.

You remain responsible for practising skills and producing authentic evidence. Contact HHF early if your access to software, study circumstances or support needs change so an appropriate plan can be discussed.

Course Fees and Payment Options

The current course fee for the Level 1 Award in e-Responsibility is £95. The course banner displays the product’s current price.

Contact HHF to discuss instalments or employer-funded enrolment. Confirm the course access period, what is included and any additional charges before paying. Use the enrolment button to proceed to checkout or ask about payment options.

Career and Practical Benefits

The learning supports responsible use of digital communication in study, volunteering and everyday work. It can strengthen personal confidence when communicating online.

A qualification can help you evidence skills, but employment and promotion depend on experience and employer requirements. Use the programme to improve the quality of your practical work and build confidence in the tasks relevant to your goals.

Progression and Further Study

Develop everyday computer skills through the Level 1 Certificate for IT Users, or explore further digital safety learning.

Entry requirements are set by the receiving provider. Recognition of prior learning or credit transfer is considered only where the qualification rules and evidence checks permit it. Discuss your next step with HHF before choosing a further course.
