Observations and Assessment of Practice
Minimum of 10 formal observations
Observations must be:
- At least 45 minutes

- Recorded sessions cannot be used for formal assessment
Final Assessment Requirements
To achieve the qualification learners must complete:
- All mandatory units
- Required teaching practice hours
- Professional Practice Portfolio
- Final Professional Discussion
The professional discussion is conducted by two qualified Further Education teachers to confirm that the learner meets the national occupational standards.
Progressing to QTLS
Completing the Level 5 Diploma in Teaching provides the opportunity to apply for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
