Optional areas can include bilingual learners, learning environments, displays, assessment for learning, SEND, play, extra-curricular activities and ICT support. The approved unit selection is confirmed during your assessment planning.
You must be aged 16 or above and have access to a suitable school through paid work or volunteering. Your role must allow you to collect practical evidence, with permission from the school.
You need suitable English and digital skills for online study and portfolio submission. Meet the school’s safeguarding and background-check requirements. Contact HHF before enrolling if you need support or want to check your placement.
Assessment uses a portfolio of evidence. Written assignments and questioning show your knowledge; practical criteria require evidence of your own work in a real school. There is no traditional final examination.
Plan evidence with your assessor. Suitable methods can include observations, witness statements, work products, professional discussions, reflective accounts and approved prior learning. Protect pupil confidentiality and obtain school permission before sharing records or recordings.
Your assessor checks each learning outcome and assessment criterion. Decisions are Pass or Refer. Use feedback to supply any further evidence required before quality assurance and certification.
Study through HHF’s online learning portal around work, family and your school placement. Access unit materials, assessment instructions and portfolio guidance; submit your evidence online and read assessor feedback. The indicative duration is 6–12 months, depending on your study schedule and practical evidence.
There are no compulsory regular live classes in the standard flexible course. Contact your tutor by email or WhatsApp and request a one-to-one tutorial when needed. Your assessor can help you plan school evidence, organise your portfolio and address feedback. Online theory does not replace practical school requirements.

Before enrolling, confirm that your school placement supports the required practical evidence and review the enrolment terms. Contact HHF to discuss payment arrangements and your study timetable.
After meeting all qualification requirements, successful learners achieve the Focus Awards Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (RQF), qualification number 601/7118/2, worth 30 credits.
Certification follows assessor confirmation, Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) and, where applicable, External Quality Assurance (EQA) or awarding-body approval. Supply any further evidence requested before the certificate is claimed. HHF’s usual timeframe is 4–6 weeks after successful assessment and completion of required quality checks; this is an estimate.

HHF Training combines flexible online learning with guidance on school evidence and portfolio preparation. Our tutors help you understand the unit requirements, while assessors explain how your submissions meet the criteria and where more evidence is needed.
