Assessment Methods

This qualification is assessed using three assessment methods to ensure candidates demonstrate both their knowledge and practical competence.

1. Written Assessment
Candidates are required to complete written assessment tasks that demonstrate their understanding of relevant legislation, licensing requirements, road safety, equality and diversity, safeguarding, customer service, and professional practice within the taxi and private hire industry.

2. Online Multiple-Choice Examination (MCQ)
Candidates must successfully complete an online multiple-choice examination. The examination is administered and invigilated remotely by a qualified assessor to ensure the integrity and authenticity of the assessment process.

3. Practical Observation of Competence
Candidates are required to demonstrate their practical skills, including the safe assistance of wheelchair users and the application of professional working practices. Practical competence may be assessed using one or more of the following methods:

  • Recorded Observation: Candidates record their practical performance and submit the video evidence for assessor review.

  • Live Observation via Microsoft Teams: The assessor observes the candidate performing the required practical tasks during a live online session.

  • Face-to-Face Observation: Where appropriate, candidates may attend an agreed location to complete the practical observation directly with the assessor.

  • Professional Discussion: Where further clarification or confirmation of competence is required, the assessor may conduct a professional discussion to authenticate the candidate’s knowledge, decision-making, and practical performance.

These assessment methods are designed to provide a flexible approach while ensuring that all learning outcomes and assessment criteria are assessed consistently and in accordance with qualification requirements.

Upon successful completion of the qualification, printed certificates will be posted free of charge to UK addresses.
