Entry Requirements & Workplace Assessment

Our occupational Health and Social Care qualifications include practical assessment of skills and competence. Learners must therefore have access to a suitable Health and Social Care workplace throughout any qualification requiring workplace-based assessment.

Depending on the qualification, learners must:

Be employed in a relevant Health and Social Care role or have a suitable work placement arranged.
Have regular access to a real care environment where the required practical activities can be undertaken.
Be able to gather appropriate workplace evidence relevant to the qualification and units being studied.
Participate in on-the-job assessment and direct assessor observations where required.
Have access to duties and responsibilities appropriate to the level of the qualification.
Have appropriate workplace support, including a supervisor or manager who can confirm workplace evidence where required.

👉Practical Workplace Observations

Some assessment criteria cannot be achieved through written assignments alone. Learners may therefore be observed carrying out relevant activities in their workplace to demonstrate that they can apply their knowledge and skills safely and effectively.

Important: If you are not currently employed in Health and Social Care, you must arrange a suitable work placement before starting a qualification that requires workplace assessment.
