Entry and evidence requirements vary across the assessment and quality assurance suite. Knowledge-only awards may be completed through written evidence, but competence-based qualifications require access to authentic assessment or quality assurance practice.

Understanding Assessor IQA and EQA Qualifications
Assessment and quality assurance qualifications form a progression pathway across vocational learning. Assessor qualifications develop the ability to plan assessment, judge evidence and give feedback. IQA qualifications focus on monitoring and improving assessment within an organisation. EQA qualifications focus on reviewing approved centres and maintaining standards across organisations.

Choose according to the context in which you assess. The understanding award covers theory, ACWE covers workplace competence, AVRA covers vocational skills and knowledge, and CAVA combines both practical assessment contexts with the principles unit.
You need real learners for assessor qualifications that assess practical competence. HHF assessor-suite requirements normally require access to at least two real learners, and simulation is not permitted where authentic assessment practice is required.
CAVA is the full Level 3 certificate covering assessment principles, occupational competence in the workplace and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding. The individual awards cover a narrower assessment context.
An IQA qualification develops the knowledge and competence required to monitor assessment decisions and assessor practice, use sampling, support standardisation and help maintain consistent assessment standards.
